Pre-Writing
- Make a list of 5 scientists you would like to study. Next to each name, list one or two reasons why you want to study that person.
- Complete a "5 W's" Sheet- Who? What? Where? When? Why?
- Take notes while you are researching
- Develop the main idea by completing a web graphic organizer.
- Complete a "Main Idea" pyramid to show your main idea and supporting details
First Draft
- Organize your notes
- Write a topic sentence for each paragraph. What will each paragraph be about?
- Begin writing your first draft.
- Make sure to skip lines!
Revising
- Read through your first draft and make any changes you need.
- Have another student read and edit your first draft. Use the editing flip guides to help you edit!
Publishing
- When your paper is edited and there are no more mistakes, begin typing your final draft.
- Print when finished.
